It’s #ThrowbackThursday! In honor of April being National Volunteer Month, we’re looking back at some of the incredible volunteers who have helped keep the Colorado Railroad Museum “On Track” since 1959. Thanks to the dedication and support of countless volunteers over the years, the Museum has grown into the renowned institution it is today.
In 2025 alone, some 300 volunteers donated nearly 40,000 hours of service, the equivalent of almost 19 full‑time staff members! From guiding tours and inspiring the next generation to restoring historic pieces of rolling stock, maintaining track, keeping the Museum grounds in top shape, cataloging archives, and everything in between, volunteers are truly the driving force behind the Museum. Today, and every day, we honor and thank the volunteers who donate their time to keeping the Museum running. The Colorado Railroad Museum simply wouldn’t be what it is today without them.
