STORY TIME AND CRAFT
10am-11am 3rd Tuesday Each Month
Join staff and volunteers at the Colorado Railroad Museum as they share some of their favorite children’s stories with a decidedly railroad theme followed by a fun make and take.
- June 15 – Dinosaur Train by John Steven Gurney

Recommended ages 4-6 years old. Included with general admission.

Your family is invited to join the Museum for a week of special hands-on activities focusing on the railroad’s role in settling Colorado.
Tuesday: Going West Special Activity – Manifest Destiny
Wednesday: Black on Track Special Activity – Music of Found Objects
Thursday: Laying Track & Creating Towns Special Activity – Great Big Map
Friday: Who Special Activity – Manifest Music
Admission: $10 Adults, $8 Seniors (ages 60+), $5 ages 2-17. Museum Members, children under 2 and active military personnel are free.
Ride Tickets: $4 Adults (18+), $2 ages 2-17. Museum members and children under 2 are free.
Grounds open 9am-5pm, Spring Break Activities operate 10am-2pm, trains rides available 10am-3pm.
This diorama shows a typical telegraph office that could be found at a train depot in the early 20th century. It comes with a working “sounder” encouraging visitors to decode and send messages coming over the wire.

Spend Thursdays at the Colorado Railroad Museum this summer as we celebrate all things railroad! Each week, participants explore railroad related activities with historic characters and friends from our partner organizations. This summer’s theme focuses on going West by rail. Bring your kids, grandkids and friends to enjoy the story of railroads! Included with general admission.
Admission: $10 Adults, $5 Ages 2-17, $8 Seniors (ages 60+). Museum Members and Children under 2 are free.
Ride Tickets: $4 Adults (16+), $2 Ages 2-17. Museum members and ages under 2 are free on a ticketed adult’s lap.

Meet historic characters who worked for the railroad – like an engineer!
See a Pop-Up Exhibit featuring railroad art.
Explore some of the tools used on the railroad.
Write a story, send a message in code.
Identify the types of rocks and minerals used on the railroad.
Try your hand at Geocaching/Letterboxing.
Join the search for Spike, The Railroad Dog.
And of course, take a train ride!
