THE POLAR EXPRESS TRAIN RIDE RETURNS IN 2020!
Departing Select Dates November & December, 2020!
As we look forward to fall, The Polar Express Train Ride event is beginning to take shape. The Colorado Railroad Museum is pleased to announce a revised and updated Polar Express show for 2020! Casting auditions have been held, and a whole host of carefully crafted updates have been made in order to ensure the health and safety of guests, cast and crew.
Our revised and updated show will still bring you all your favorite characters and the Magic of The Polar Express! Put on your pajamas and your most fashionable mask, and bring the family to enjoy sharing hot cocoa and cookies together as the “Hot, Hot, Hot—Chocolate” song and dance unfolds before your eyes. Laugh and sing along with our cast as they tell stories and sing Christmas Carols and perform the story of The Polar Express live! Follow your Conductor through our enchanted railyard to meet Smokey and Steamer and learn, in song, how a steam locomotive works.
Climb aboard, and journey to the North Pole while more scenes from the movie unfold aboard the train. As the North Pole emerges on the horizon, elves and Santa come into view. Santa will give out “the first gift of Christmas,” then your train will transport its sleepy passengers back to the present, dodging some stubborn caribou along the way! Upon arriving back in Golden you’ll meet Santa and his elves and receive your very own first gift of Christmas!
All Aboard! Tickets for The Polar Express Train Ride go on sale to the General Public on October 1. Museum Members will have the week prior (starting September 24) to purchase tickets in advance exclusively. Not a member? Click Here to learn more about membership—and you’ll enjoy other benefits year-round as well, including free Museum and Train Rides throughout the year!
Masks are required to be worn at all times during this event, by all participants ages 3 and older, except while eating and drinking when seated and properly distanced. For the safety of our guests, cast and crew, we are unable to make exceptions to this policy.
We’ve reduced overall capacity for the 2020 Polar Express Train Ride for safety. It’s also the reason we’ve moved to ticketing in pairs. Our goal is to provide adequate, safe distances in our Polar Express Pavilion and aboard trains for each group or pair of riders. We hope you agree these measures are reasonable, in order for us to safely bring you the Magic of the Polar Express in this challenging year. Please note that tickets must be purchased in advance; walk-up sales will not be available.

ENHANCED SAFETY MEASURES
With enhanced health and safety protocols in place, the Polar Express Train Ride has been adjusted for 2020 to meet local guidance. The health and well-being of our guests, cast and crew is our primary concern, and we’ve made changes to responsibly host this holiday tradition! The Colorado Railroad Museum follows current health guidelines and performs regular facility cleanings for everyone’s safety. Some of the measures in place for The Polar Express Train Ride include:
- Masks required for entry for guests ages 3 and up, and must be worn at all times during the event, except when eating or drinking while seated and properly distanced.
- Limited capacity entry to the event, allowing for safe distances to be maintained throughout the event and aboard the train ride.
- Staggered train ride seating between groups, and sanitization before each train ride.
- Advanced tickets required, sold at www.ColoradoRailroadMuseum.org/Polar-Express.
- Increased cleaning procedures throughout the event.
- Tickets are sold only in pairs or by tables of four, to ensure groupings match up with seating arrangements.
- Added signage for distancing and handwashing.
