“All Things Engine” taking place Saturday and Sunday On Father’s Day Weekend!
—Plus First-ever Member Appreciation Day on Sunday
This Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, the Colorado Railroad Museum is celebrating Father’s Day Weekend with fun, outdoor activities! Come join us as for a unique “All Things Engine” focus, with the Front Range Antique Power Association showcasing several different kinds of engines.
Check out antique tractors, diesel motors, hit-and-miss engines, vintage Model A and Model T automobiles, and even a fire truck! Take a Train Ride aboard socially distanced open-air excursion cars pulled by our small but mighty diesel-electric locomotive. Enjoy local food and concessions, as well as steampunk vendors, caricature artists, and storytelling.
The Museum features dozens of authentic Colorado narrow- and standard-gauge steam and diesel locomotives, passenger and freight cars (including cabooses) to tour and explore! From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy Train Rides departing every half-hour. Visit the Roundhouse and take in some of the projects the Museum’s skilled restoration team is working on. The Colorado Railroad Museum is the place to be for Father’s Day Weekend!
Special Note for Railroad Museum Members: Sunday, June 21 is Member Appreciation Day! Featuring all of the fun as noted above, PLUS an exclusive, members-only vintage railroad car added to the train just for you! Remember that your Membership Benefits now provide for free admission and train rides, except during selected special events. We encourage you to reserve your admission and train ride tickets online in advance, since our overall capacity is limited. No other restrictions apply as this weekend is not considered a Ticketed Special Event.
Also just for members, we’ll host two Behind-the-Scenes tours of our Roundhouse, with a special look at Rio Grande Southern 4-6-0 locomotive No. 20—which will soon be returning to service after a 14-year restoration! The first tour starts at 10 a.m. and the second one at 2 p.m.—sign up as you arrive that day, as space will be limited. Not a Railroad Museum Member but want to learn more? Know Before You Go:
COVID-19 has certainly changed how we so about our daily lives, but one thing it has not changed is the Colorado Railroad Museum’s commitment to preserving and sharing Colorado’s rich railroading heritage for benefit of current and future generations!
That being said, the Museum has made a few changes for the sake of everyone’s safety. We hope you’ll understand! The museum is adhering to state and local health guidelines, limiting capacity and encouraging social distancing at all times, and requiring face masks for all guests. A few things to know are below:
- You must have a face mask to be admitted to the Museum. Masks are required in all enclosed spaces including our Depot and Exhibit Galleries, Restroom Facilities, Library and while taking Train Rides. All in-person activities and train rides will be socially distanced.
- We encourage you to reserve your timed entry and train ride tickets in advance to make sure we’ll have space for you at the Museum and aboard our train at the time you prefer. In order to avoid overcrowding, and allow more space for safety, our total guest capacity is currently reduced.
