It’s #ThrowbackThursday! Today, we are taking a look back at some of the many volunteers, past and present, who have kept the Museum “On Track” since 1959. Without the enthusiasm and passion of these dedicated individuals, the Museum would not be the beloved institution it is today.
Are you interested in becoming a Museum Volunteer? Join us next Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a Volunteer Fair at the Museum. Admission is free! There, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the many volunteer roles available, and to meet some of the participants. No experience is necessary. The Museum provides training for all volunteers, and you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for the next orientation class. (Volunteers must be 18 years or older).
From railroad operations and guided tours to grounds maintenance, event support, interpretive programming and everything in between, the Museum is grateful for the contributions made each and every year by nearly 300 wonderful volunteer participants!
