It’s #TBT and for Throwback Thursday this week we have the final part of our Colorado Railcar Manufacturing, LLC behind-the-scenes tour which was originally filmed by Museum Volunteer Michael McBride. After touring the shops the previous day, guests were invited to tour one of the company’s completed DMU (Diesel Multiple Units) car at Denver Union Station on February 3, 2003!

The Colorado Railcar DMU was targeted towards starter commuter rail operators with smaller passenger volumes desiring to operate shorter trains, often comparable to light rail, and with less extensive maintenance facilities. A DMU car could also pull two unpowered coach cars in addition to itself.

Do you have any home movies or photographs that feature the Colorado Railroad Museum, The Museum’s equipment or Colorado Railroads in general? We’d love to share them! Contact the Colorado Railroad Museum’s Multimedia Coordinator Matthew Isaacks at matthew@crrm.org!

In 2022, the Museum is offering Train Rides every Saturday mid-January through Labor Day, and also during the month of October. Follow us on Pinterest, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.
