At the Colorado Railroad Museum we combine science, history, and creative activities to tell the story of how railroads opened the American West to exploration and commerce. Help us Raise the Roofs!
The Colorado Railroad Museum is in desperate need of a new roof for our primary restoration facility, the Roundhouse. Completed some 30 years ago, the Roundhouse complex serves as maintenance base for our operating steam locomotives and is home to our large-scale restoration efforts. A functional roof that will stand up to our changing Colorado weather is an absolute necessity! Additionally, funding for a trainshed-style roof—to protect 1886-vintage Chicago, Burlington & Quincy business car No. 96 and 1887-vintage Colorado Midland observation car No. 111—is still $25,000 short of the goal needed to begin work.
