HARVEST HAUNT

Saturday & Sunday October 22 & 23, 2022

The Colorado Railroad Museum’s annual Halloween-themed steam-up event is back! Grounds are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with activities taking place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., including train rides. Guests are encouraged to come in costume for Trick-or-Treating!

Enjoy the Olde Railroaders Silly Graveyard, “not-so-spooky” Haunted Railcars, a hay bale maze, and musical ensembles performing throughout the day in our outdoor pavilion. Bring your camera, and get a great picture of your group’s costumes in front of the Pumpkin Patch cart. Tasty treats and lunchtime food options will be available for purchase.

An authentic, coal burning Colorado steam locomotive will pull trains for this event. Regular admission and train ride pricing applies. Capacity is limited, so advance ticket purchase is recommended!

COLORADO CROSSINGS

Celebrate the uniquely Colorado intersection of steam trains and Galloping Geese! Enjoy the rare thrill of THREE Galloping Geese and two coal-fired narrow gauge locomotives in operation. The event kicks off each day with a “parade” at 9:30 a.m., followed by train rides every half hour until 3 p.m. There will be fun activities for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Regular admission and train ride pricing applies. Advance purchase of admission and train ride tickets recommended.

Regular Museum Admission: $10 adults, $8 seniors, $5 ages 2-17, Museum Members and under age 2 free.
Train Rides: $4 adults and seniors, $2 ages 2-17, Museum Members and under age 2 ride free.

Bring Dad out to the Museum on the Saturday before “his” day, and let him revv up his motor! Check out antique tractors, hit-and-miss engines and early diesel engines, Model A and Model T cars, and even a Fire Truck! Take a ride behind our diesel engine-powered locomotive, looping around our 15 acre railyard, every half-hour from 10 am to 3 pm. Enjoy great local food and treats as well as Turntable Demonstrations and our own friendly mascot, Spike the Railroad Dog! Activities and train rides all take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. this day, with the Museum grounds open from 9 am to 5 pm Advance tickets recommended, especially if you have a specific train ride time in mind!

DINOSAUR EXPRESS TRAIN

Railroad tracks meet dinosaur tracks for a day of exciting family fun. Ride behind a coal-fired steam locomotive, departing every half-hour from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and follow the dinosaur tracks around the Museum’s 15-acre railyard. Dinosaur-themed activities hosted by Dinosaur Ridge and Morrison Natural History Museum. Check out a dinosaur-themed LEGO Layout created by the Denver Lego Users Group and build your own dinosaur creations. Meet “Mr. Bones” along with our famous Spike the Railroad Dog. Food, drink and tasty treats available. The Dinosaur Express Train brings together two childhood favorites in a day-long celebration. Capacity is limited, advance ticket purchase recommended.

Rail Fair & Steam-Up!

Join us at the Colorado Railroad Museum for an end-of-summer Rail Fair & Steamup event featuring special programming plus steam-powered train rides! Celebrate the role railroads have played in Colorado’s agricultural, mining, and transportation history, and ride behind one of the last coal-fired steam locomotives operating in Colorado. Catch turntable demonstrations and more happening around the Museum’s 15-acre railyard, and enjoy a variety of activities and photo opportunities–including Spike, the Railroad Dog (the Museum’s very own mascot!). Food and tasty treats available for purchase, too. Grounds open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with special programs and activities taking place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Train Rides depart every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also this day, don’t miss the Railroad Book Sale, taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for sale will include previously owned railroad books, DVDs, and posters and prints. These items will be heavily discounted, up to 60% off retail price (and with many of them out of print and hard to locate). The sale will take place under the Big White Tent near the outdoor Garden Railroad layout.
