Metro Denver’s Largest Rail Enthusiast Event Returns!
This weekend, which is intended for narrow gauge and history enthusiasts, celebrates railroading in southwest Colorado. For 2023 it will highlight Lucius Beebe and Charles Clegg, along with the spotlight this unique duo shined on Colorado through their travels, photography, and railroad books! There will be steam train rides, special activities including model and garden railroads in operation, and touring of an all-new double exhibit highlighting Beebe and Clegg. Each day will kick off with a parade of steam locomotives and Galloping Goose motorcars (9:30am). Train Rides each day will feature a passenger train from southwest Colorado in the 1940s. Late each afternoon (approx. 3:30pm), a special photographers’ train will operate, loosely depicting Beebe & Clegg’s 1946 Rio Grande Southern excursion consist. The photo train will be pulled by RGS 4-6-0 No. 20, the same locomotive photographed pulling this special train “back in the day!” Capacity is very limited for this event, so advance purchase of admission and train ride tickets is recommended.
