There’s something amazing about trains. The familiar whistle has always promised adventure. The gentle rock of the rails has set the rhythm of our lives. Experience it all again at the Colorado Railroad Museum.

Stroll the Museum’s 15-acre railyard with over 100 narrow and standard gauge steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses and G-scale garden railway. Watch as Colorado railroad history is brought back to life in our Roundhouse restoration facility with a working turntable.

Visit the 1880s-replica Depot Museum building housing thousands of rare artifacts, along with the Denver HO Model Railroad Club’s operating model layout replicating the various types of Colorado mountain railroading.

And take home a memory from our Depot General Store featuring thousands of train gifts for every railfan.


The Museum is open year-round, daily from 9:00AM to 5:00PM.

During The Polar Express™ Train Ride operations in November and December, the Museum will close to regular guests at 4:00PM.

Easter Sunday open from 12:00 – 5:00PM
Christmas Eve open from 9:00AM – 1:00PM
New Year’s Eve open from 9:00AM – 1:00PM

Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

All tickets include access to Museum Exhibits, the Roundhouse Restoration Facility viewing gallery and our Railyard. General Admission does not cover the cost associated to Colorado Railroad Museum Events.

Guests are invited to enjoy our outdoor picnic area with our pavilion nestled under our spectacular Colorado Cottonwood trees. Pack your favorite picnic lunch and beverages, but do keep in mind we are an alcohol-free facility.

Group Rates

We offer a discount of 15% off regular admission prices for any adult group of 20 or more. Schedule your group and request a free volunteer tour guide by contacting Museum Guest Services at 303-279-4591 or online.

Disabled Individuals and Special Needs
General admission is $4 per guest and attendants are free. Advance notice is requested so that your visit may be accommodated.

$4 per child
Advanced reservations are required for children’s groups and there is a maximum of 60 children per group. We require one adult supervisor for every seven children (ages 10 and up) and one supervisor for every five children (under 10). Supervisors receive free Museum admission.

Head Start groups pay only $0.75 per person; no other discounts apply. The ratio of one adult for every four children is necessary for adequate supervision. The group total is not to exceed 60 participants.
