Volunteer Fair

Have you ever wanted to help in your community, and work with a diverse and interesting group of people? Do you like sharing Colorado’s rich history with visitors from all over the globe? The Colorado Railroad Museum is now recruiting adults (18 or older) who are interested in volunteering to help communicate the Centennial State’s fascinating heritage of railroading and how it has transformed our state!

Sound Interesting? An in-person Volunteer Open House is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Museum, which is located in Golden. You’re invited to drop in and learn more about Summer and Fall event volunteer opportunities! Each year, over 300 individuals volunteer for the Colorado Railroad Museum’s programs – including staffing for special events like Day Out With Thomas™ and THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride, educational tours and hands-on demonstrations, track construction, railroad equipment restoration and maintenance, even clerical work.

A background in history is not required to become a volunteer. In fact, many of the volunteers in the popular program began with little knowledge of railroads. As individuals become more familiar with the Museum’s varied and frequent programs, volunteers are encouraged to take on additional responsibilities. The hours are flexible and the rewards can be tremendous.

Attending the Colorado Railroad Museum Volunteer Fair on Saturday, August 19 is a great way to learn more about Summer and Fall event volunteer opportunities at the Museum, as well as to meet other paid and volunteer staff team members.
