Rail Fair & Steamup!
August 13 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Join us at the Colorado Railroad Museum for an end-of-summer Rail Fair & Steamup event featuring special programming plus steam-powered train rides! Celebrate the role railroads have played in Colorado’s agricultural, mining, and transportation history, and ride behind one of the last coal-fired steam locomotives operating in Colorado. Catch turntable demonstrations and more happening around the Museum’s 15-acre railyard, and enjoy a variety of activities and photo opportunities–including Spike, the Railroad Dog (the Museum’s very own mascot!). Food and tasty treats available for purchase, too. Grounds open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with special programs and activities taking place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Train Rides depart every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Also this day, don’t miss the Railroad Book Sale, taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for sale will include previously owned railroad books, DVDs, and posters and prints. These items will be heavily discounted, up to 60% off retail price (and with many of them out of print and hard to locate). The sale will take place under the Big White Tent near the outdoor Garden Railroad layout.
