Join Colorado Railroad Museum Curator of Collections, Stephanie Gilmore to explore “Small Wonders” from the Museum’s collection as part of the new “Still Working On The Railroad” initiative. Each segment will focus on different items from the Colorado Railroad Museum’s collection. In this episode we explore the Museum’s fascinating collection of Passenger Car Drumheads!
So what is a drumhead, exactly? These illuminated signs adorned the rear of passenger trains. They gained the name drumhead because they were often round and hollow, like a drum. While some came in different shapes, such as squares and rectangles, they were typically round.
In 2021 the Museum is operating socially distanced train rides each Saturday! Follow us on Pinterest, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter.
