Staff and volunteers at the Colorado Railroad Museum have been extremely busy this year but the past week in particular saw some major restoration work, equipment moves, construction and events. Click the images below for larger views.
D&RGW Steam Locomotive No. 491
This week Master Mechanic & Grants Manager Mike Spera and volunteers Benjamin Fearn and Mark Huber installed a new boiler jacket Beauty Ring and Backhead Jacket.
Coors Equipment Move
Chief Mechanical Officer Jack Campbell working with volunteer George Lawrence, Museum Advisory Board Member Alan Olson and contractor Tim Bickering, built a temporary track that allowed them to finish the Coors equipment move started on July 30, 2015.

New Sidewalks
With construction complete on the new Museum Pavilion sidewalks were poured connecting the main Depot Building and Denver Garden Railway Society layout to the new event structure. Now, the crews are grading the surrounding earth in preparation for final landscaping.

New Event Venue Available
On Saturday August 22, 2015 the Colorado Cowboy Gathering hosted a fun concert and BBQ dinner in the newly completed venue.

Lecture Hall
Inside the Museum Depot Building a new entry to the Lecture Hall has been constructed and the Hall itself has received a new look.

A Fresh Coat of Paint
And finally, D&RGW Steam Locomotive No. 491’s new boiler jacket has been installed and the locomotive is getting a brand new coat of paint from Mike Spera and volunteer Frank Stapleton.
