Theme Events are unique trademarked experiences with unique pricing, schedules and attractions.

Free Day at the Golden Museums
Golden’s museums and cultural attractions will offer FREE admission in honor of the Explore Golden Rally & Colorado Tourism Office Roadshow Kickoff on Monday, May 8th during National Travel and Tourism Week.

All Aboard for Art
Join local historian and proprietor of Red Herring Art Supply, Kris Autobee as she takes to the rails for an up close look at the various art installations along the RTD tracks.

Colorado Rails and Cocktails
An Evening of Colorado History. Relax, have a beverage, and travel back to a time when railroads shaped the American West.
Admission includes 2 beverages of your choice: beer, wine or soda and snacks. Doors open at 5:30PM for early enjoyment of Museum displays and the presentation starts promptly at 6:30PM. Presentation length varies by event and the doors close at 8:00PM.

Behind the Scenes Tours
Join staff members of the Colorado Railroad Museum for a unique, behind the scenes experience.
Tours depart at 10:30AM select Saturdays throughout the year. Space is limited to 15 participants.

Explore the story of Colorado through trains and the people who rode and worked on them – like hobos, immigrants and holiday travelers or conductors, brakeman and Harvey Girls.
Through on-site field trips explore the fun of model railroading and the importance of historic preservation.
Hands-on activities, storytelling, demonstrations and more introduce campers to a world that is disappearing.
$250.00 members, $275.00 non-members.

Director's Storytime and Craft
10:00-11:00AM 3rd Tuesday Each Month
Young train enthusiasts meet to read stories with a decidedly railroad theme followed by a fun make and take home craft. Afterwards enjoy exploring the museum’s grounds and exhibits. The program is a collaboration between the Colorado Railroad Museum and the Golden Public Library. (Upper Gallery)

The Colorado Railroad Museum offers the perfect setting year-round, for your next “Train-Themed” birthday party, event or celebration. Select from several historic railcars located on the Museum’s 15-acre railyard, located in scenic Golden, Colorado or reserve the outdoor Picnic Pavilion for a privet experience.
