School Field Trip

Field Trips

The Colorado Railroad Museum is an ideal destination for field trips. Our facility can enhance many aspects of your school’s curriculum, especially the state-mandated fourth-grade social studies unit on Colorado history.

Educational institutions of all levels can find useful teaching opportunities at the Museum such as our informative room-sized timeline of Colorado railroad history.

Children’s Groups
If your children’s group is planning to make the Colorado Railroad Museum a destination, contact Museum Guest Services in advance to request a volunteer docent to accompany your group.

Groups will have 90-minutes to visit the Museum exhibits and grounds plus time for lunch in the picnic area if desired. Our outdoor picnic area and grounds are nestled under our spectacular Colorado Cottonwood trees. You are welcome to pack and bring your own picnic lunches and beverages.

A maximum of 60 children per group please and all groups must be supervised and controlled at all times. We require one adult supervisor for every seven children (ages 10 and up) and one supervisor for every five children (under 10). Supervisors receive free Museum admission.

Head Start
Individuals, adults or children, pay only $0.75 each; no other discounts apply. The ratio of one adult for every four children is necessary for adequate supervision. The group total is not to exceed 60.
