Santa Claus Special

December 7, 14, 15 and 21

Santa Claus Walking off of train

Trains have been in the backdrop of the Christmas holidays for generations…but at the Colorado Railroad Museum, Santa has replaced his sleigh and reindeer with Colorado Railroad Museum’s steam locomotive and a team of historic passenger cars all decked out for the holidays.

For over a century, railway post offices (RPOs) carried holiday greetings across our country. Letters to Santa can be mailed at the Museum’s authentic and operating RPO Car No. 254, open for the holidays. Children will receive a commemorative RailCard to mark the occasion and their letters will be hand stamped and delivered to Santa.

Wish lists can also be shared with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Museum Depot and cups of hot chocolate enjoyed by the Depot General Store—where they’ll find a generous supply of railroad toys and a huge selection of Thomas the Tank Engine gifts.

At the Santa Claus Special event, share your wish list with Santa and Mrs. Claus, between 10:00am-3:00pm, ride the train between 10:00am-4:00pm and shop from 9:00am-5:00pm. You’ll find a generous supply of railroad toys and a huge selection of Thomas the Tank Engine gifts.

Kids, bring in your letter to the Santa Claus Special on December 7, 14, 15 and 21. After you send your letter, you will receive a special Railway Post Office Car No. 254 RailCard that will be stamped with a unique cachet, which is a distinguishing seal.

Event admission rates: Museum Members and Children under 2 are free, Children $5, Adults $15, Seniors $10 and Families $30.
