COLORADO RAILS AND COCKTAILS –
AN EVENING OF COLORADO HISTORY
Lauren Giebler, Colorado Railroad Museum Curator and State Historic Review Board member, will delve into the lives of Zephyrettes and Courier Nurses. After streamlining their rolling stock in the 1930s, railroad companies realized their trains also had to offer superior service to compete with automobiles. They hired female employees to make passengers as comfortable as possible. These women made announcements, took dinner reservations, sent passengers’ telegrams and letters, walked pets, played with children, provided minor medical care, and much more!
