Friday April 17, 2015 6:30 p.m. – Hell on Wheels: Wicked Towns along the Union Pacific Railroad

Join author and retired Denver Post editor and columnist Dick Kreck as he discusses his book. Hell on Wheels tells the story of the great westward migration of the mid-1800s, the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad, and the overnight “Hell on Wheels” settlements which sprang up overnight along the line. You’ll hear of daring pioneers who took a chance and managed to create permanent towns in the West and learn what motivates one to take “a two-thousand-mile, months-long, cross-country trudge through unknown land with unknown perils.”
